Niall Joins the team

So Niall, welcome to the team! As you know we like to have a little Q&A, so lets start things off with the big one..Why did you choose to become a developer?

I loved gaming as a child, and loved games where you could create your own puzzles or levels. This led me to want to make my own games and write mods for others, which gave me a foundation in Java.

What are the challenges you've faced in your career as a developer?

It can be difficult to know which area of development to focus on. You always need to be learning the latest technologies and keeping up to date on security patches.

What is your favourite thing about being a full stack developer?

I love being able to create tools for myself that solve problems in my life off the shelf tools can’t.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

Either Australia or Brazil. I like the sun!

What are you most looking forward to now you are part of the dotcraft team?

I’m looking forward to learning to work with EPiServer (Optimizely) and continuing to work with Umbraco CMS.


How do you keep up to date with the latest trends?

I like to talk with my friends, visit tech trend websites, keep up to date with news from the tech giants (like google, apple, Microsoft).
